SEOUL, South Korea?Police say a South Korean taxi driver found dead on a wooden cross in an apparent re-creation of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ is likely to have killed himself.

The 58-year-old man was found May 1 crucified in an abandoned stone quarry in the country's south, with his hands and feet nailed to the cross and a crown of thorns on his head.

Police said Wednesday they believe he committed a suicide.

Police say the man is believed to have nailed his feet to the cross, tied his neck to it and stabbed himself in the side. He is then believed to have drilled holes in his hands and slipped them over nails on the cross.

Police say they found the man's notes planning the crucifixion.
