BEIJING?At least three people were killed and 60 injured when two passenger trains collided early Monday in central China, state media reported.

The accident happened at 2:34 a.m. (1834 GMT Sunday) at the railway station in Chenzhou city, Hunan province, the Xinhua news agency said, citing unnamed sources at a local railway company.

Several carriages were derailed in the collision between the two trains, which were both headed for the city of Shenzhen just north of Hong Kong, according to Xinhua.

The agency said Railway Minister Liu Zhijun had gone to Chenzhou to oversee rescue work.
