DIGOS CITY, Philippines -- A police officer was wounded during a shoot out with two armed men inside a bar here around 12:10 a.m. Saturday, the police said.
Senior Superintendent Cesario Darantinao, Davao del Sur police chief, said Police Officer 3 Irvin Kim Malcampo responded to a tip about the presence of two armed men inside the bar. When he arrived there to check out the information, he was fired upon by two men identified as John Philip Solomon and Brandy Campaner, Danrantinao added.
Despite being wounded in the mouth, Darantinao said, Malcampo traded shots with the two, who were later arrested by officers who rushed to back up Malcampo.
The two suspects, who yielded handguns when arrested, were undergoing interrogation while Malcampo was hospitalized.
