MANILA, Philippines -- A 4.6 magnitude earthquake shook northern Oriental Mindoro province early Sunday evening, the US Geological Survey said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.

The inland quake hit 25 kilometers south-southwest of the capital Calapan City at a depth of 74.1 kilometers.

The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire”, a zone where continental plates collide, causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
