ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines -- Police authorities here said on Thursday they have been trying to track down an unidentified American soldier, who figured in a traffic incident with a local on Wednesday.
Senior Police Officer 1 Rud de Leña, police investigator, said on Thursday that Dante Clemente, a resident of Sta. Maria village, was passing by the gates of the Edwin Andrews Airbase here when a US military vehicle, with plate number XRU 931, hit his motorbike on Wednesday morning.
US soldiers have been in the city since the conduct of the first Balikatan a few years ago. They are based at the Airbase.
De Leña said Clemente was injured while his motorbike was damaged.
Instead of helping the victim, the unidentified US soldier left a card with the words "JSOTFP" written on it and casually left, he said.
De Leña said the unidentified US soldier also did not pay for Clemente's medical expenses.
