MANILA, Philippines? After battering Metro Manila with strong winds late Tuesday, typhoon ?Basyang? (international name: Conson) continued to move farther away from the country, the state weather bureau said Thursday morning.
In its 5 a.m. weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration said that as of 4 a.m., the center of the storm was located 400 kilometers west northwest of Dagupan City.
?Basyang? is moving northwest at 19 km per hour and packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kph with gustiness of up to 100 kph.
The agency also lifted all storm signals in the country.
But Pagasa also said the Bicol Region and the Visayas will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon and evening.
The agency said it is unlikely ?Basyang? would return to the country because of a high pressure area in Taiwan.
