PNP’s No. 2 man Barias retires Friday

MANILA, Philippines?Police deputy director general Geary Barias, the number two man in the Philippine National Police, is set to retire from office on Friday, prompting a revamp in the PNP hierarchy.

Barias, a member of the Philippine Military Class 1975, is currently assigned as the deputy chief for administration.

He will be replaced by deputy director general for operation Jefferson Soriano, who in turn will be replaced by deputy director general Edgardo Acuna, the current chief of the directorial staff.

Barias served as Metro Manila police commander and his term was marked by at least three major: the Glorietta 2 explosion, the Batasang Pambansa blast, and the Manila Peninsula standoff.
