MANILA, Philippines?Administration presidential candidate Gilbert Teodoro failed to pack the Ynares Gym in Antipolo City for his proclamation rally Tuesday.

But an executive of the Lakas-Kampi-Christian Muslim Democrat (CMD) party was overwhelmed with the support of congressmen and local officials who joined Teodoro in his kickoff campaign.

Saranggani Governor Migs Dominguez, Lakas-Kampi-CMD president, said the local officials are the ones who would bring the votes for Teodoro and his party.

"We value the local government support which no other party can boast of. The local leaders will deliver victory for Gibo and party," he said in a text message.

From a motorcade from the party headquarters in EDSA, Teodoro, running-mate Edu Manzano and six senatorial candidates arrived in the Ynares Gym amid the cheering of supporters clad in green shirt.

Before the speeches, the event appeared like a rock concert as the audience was treated to the songs of the Rivermaya band.

Reggie Velasco, Lakas-Kampi-CMD deputy secretary general estimated the crowd at 12,000, including those outside the gym awaiting the free concert after the rally.

Inside the gym, portions of the bleachers section were unoccupied.

In his speech, Teodoro reiterated his platform for education, food security, health, peace and security, environment, and strengthening of local governments.

Teodoro also said the country should be thankful to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for the steady economy even amid the global economic downturn.

Manzano urged the people to vote wisely and not let go of the opportunity to have officials like Teodoro and the Lakas-Kampi candidates.

Reelectionist Senators Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. and Lito Lapid were the most applauded among the six senatorial bets.

Both actors, Lapid and Revilla said they may be silent in the Senate, but said they were instead focusing on working for their constituents.

Lawyer Raul Lambino presented himself as the candidate who has the "character" and who will be an honest servant.

Mayor Ramon Guico of Binalonan, Pangasinan promised to strengthen local governments.

Broadcaster Rey Langit brandished his battlecry for transparency in governance, while former Cabinet secretary Silvestre Bello III vowed to improve the country's justice system when elected.

Teodoro's wife, Tarlac Representative Monica Louise Teodoro, led the contingent of lawmakers that also included Representatives Juan Miguel Arroyo (Pampanga), Amelita Villarosa (Occidental Mindoro), Matias Defensor (Quezon City), Roman Romulo (Pasig City), Candido Pancrudo Jr. (Bukidnon), Rodolfo Antonino (Nueva Ecija), Mitos Magsaysay (Zambales), Lorna Silverio (Bulacan), Annie Rosa Susano (Quezon City), Dan Fernandez (Laguna), Anton Lagdameo (Davao del Norte), Martin Romualdez (Leyte), Fredenil Castro (Capiz), Orlando Fua (Siquijor), Robbie Puno (Antipolo).

Buluan Vice Mayor Esmael "Toto" Mangudadatu was also in the audience.

Teodoro visited the Antipolo church after the rally.
