MANILA, Philippines ? Presidential candidate Senator Ma. Consuelo "Jamby" Madrigal got jeers from the crowd after failing to provide the correct answer to the question, how much a kilo of galunggong (mackarel scad) and salted red egg cost in the market today.

"I think it's about P60," Madrigal said, to which the crowd responded with a collective "No!"

After which, Madrigal quickly responded, "You know I cannot answer that, I will be honest, because I'm a vegetarian. I don't eat fish."

The crowd again jeered Madrigal. Asked anew on the current cost of salted red egg, Madrigal answered, "Hindi po ako kumakain ng itlog [I do not eat egg]."

But when asked how much a regular Filipino family should earn to eat three square meals a day, Madrigal said that a breadwinner should earn about P15,000.

"If it's father and mother working then they'll be taking home P30,000 a month and that would be the bare minimum to survive," Madrigal said.

All the other presidential candidates agreed that corruption should be addressed to effectively implement the necessary economic reforms in the country.

"Ang economic strategy ay ito pong matapos labanan itong evils of corruption and disparity ng mayaman at mahirap [The economic strategy is to fight corruption and the disparity between the rich and poor]. We have to democratize the economic processes," said Brother Eddie Villanueva of Bangon Pilipinas.

"We should promote that the culture of corruption is banished forever in this country," seconded Senator Richard Gordon of Bagumbayan.
