MANILA, Philippines? The Department of Health on Friday called on people who suffered minor injuries as a result of firecracker use to consult their doctors despite the seeming harmlessness of their wounds.

?Even if their injuries... are minor abrasions, it would be good to have these looked at,? Health Undersecretary Mario Villaverde said in a news conference.

Villaverde said this was to ensure that the injury does not develop into anything serious or life threatening.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III asked all those who suffered firecracker injuries to get anti-tetanus shots.

Tetanus could lead to death,? Duque said.
