MANILA, Philippines?Yet another arms cache was recovered in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao on Tuesday night by government troopers scouring the area for the weapons used in the mass murder of 57 people last Nov. 23, police said Wednesday.
Senior Supt. Sonny David, operations chief of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said the latest find was concealed in the ceiling of the gym beside the capitol building.
David said joint police and military units searched the area around 7:30 p.m. after they were tipped off by a resident about the hidden firearms.
Among those recovered were eight M-16 assault rifles, two M-60 machine guns, a K3 submachine gun, nine M-14 rifle and a spare barrel for an M-16 rifle.
David said the seized guns would be brought to a police camp in General Santos City for ballistics tests.
?These weapons could have been used in the massacre that?s why we requested for a ballistics test for all the guns,? he told the INQUIRER via phone interview.
