BATANGAS CITY, Philippines?A 38-year-old overseas Filipino worker died while his mother and brother were wounded when unidentified armed men shot them in a holdup in Tanauan City Thursday afternoon, police said Friday.
Senior Supt. Jesus Gatchalian, Batangas police director, identified the fatality as Rogelio Awitan.
?His mother Nemesia, 75, and brother Leonilo, 36, were injured and undergoing treatment at the CP Reyes Hospital,? said Gatchalian.
Investigation showed that the victims came from a bank in Tanauan City and were on board a car traveling along the highway in Barangay Natatas near the Star Tollway exit at around 3:45 p.m. when the gunmen blocked their car.
Police said the gunmen grabbed the bag containing an undetermined amount of cash and fired at the victims.
Police said Rogelio died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds. His mother had a gunshot wound in the head while his brother was hit on the left part of the body.
