MANILA, Philippines -- Speaker Prospero Nograles and his delegation of about 20 congressmen who accompanied President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to the United States would have their hands full of activities there, including possible meetings with their American counterparts.
Nograles was one of five officials who accompanied Arroyo in her 45-minute meeting with US President Barack Obama Friday morning(Manila time) at the White House.
He said meeting the world?s most powerful leader was ?a dream come true.?
Asked what the House of Representatives delegation would do in the US, he said the congressmen would attend meetings in New York City. He did not specify the meetings, however.
?In New York, there will be a lot of meetings about the economy anddiscussions on possible legislations that will produce win-winsolution to both America and the Philippines,? Nograles said in a text message.
?It?s work and meeting here for all of us, the schedules are hectic,? he said.
Two weeks ago, Nograles said that he would allow only a maximum of seven congressmen to join the trip since not all of them could come with the President in the actual meeting with Obama.
But a few days before the trip, he said he did not have the final list of lawmakers in the delegation.
He added, ?Since American Congress is in session, we will take the opportunity to visit our counterpart committees there in Washingtonand meet and work out something.?
