MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) admitted Friday that the sworn statement of a lawyer was its only evidence on the alleged fresh coup plot against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

"So far, yun lang muna ang ginagamit ng investigators [That's what investigators are using for the meantime]," Chief Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome, PNP spokesman, told a news conference in Camp Crame, referring to the affidavit of lawyer Raymond Fortun.

"This is not the end of the investigation. The investigation has just started," he said.
