MANILA, Philippines ? An elderly man was found dead Thursday morning at a busy street corner in Manila.
The only clues to the identity of the man described to be between 60 and 65 years old, was a 5-year-old hospital receipt issued to an ?Abraham Quiroz,? cash and several plastic bags full of used clothing.
Homicide investigators described him to be 5-foot-4 inches tall, of regular build, fair-skinned, and clad in a blue and white striped polo shirt and gray short pants.
Senior Police Officer 2 Benito Cabatbat of the Manila Police District homicide section said the body was discovered at around 6 a.m. at the corner of C.M. Recto Ave. and Quezon Blvd. in Sta. Cruz.
Cabatbat said the passerby, who first found the man thought, he was just sleeping so he carried him to safety beside the Quiapo underpass.
It was then that the passerby discovered that the sexagenarian was already dead and informed the nearest police precinct about the situation.
Apart from the bags of clothes, the investigator said he found a receipt dated September 23, 2004 issued by the Jose Delos Reyes Memorial Medical Center and P 2,000 cash inside the man?s wallet.
He also found no sign of injury on the body.
The old man?s body was brought to the Cruz funeral parlor for autopsy and safekeeping.
