MANILA, Philippines ? A suspected fixer at the Land Transportation Office was shot dead on Friday night in Quezon City after he got drunk and reportedly bossed around his drinking partners.

The victim, identified as Leonardo Calibod, 47, was shot at the back of the head in Barangay (village) Pinyahan at around 7:50 p.m. by an unidentified assailant with whom he was having some drinks.

Police Officer 2 Loreto Tigno of the Quezon City Police District's Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said Calibod suffered two gunshot wounds in the head and died immediately.

Police are now hunting for the gunman, known only as "Attorney," and a companion who helped the gunman escape aboard a motorcycle.

Chief Inspector Benjamin Elenzano Jr., homicide section head, said the killing was likely to be unplanned as the gunman simply got irritated by the victim's supposed bossiness.

"He [the assailant] just probably got irked at the victim's drunken antics. Right now we're trying to determine the gunman's identity," he said in an interview.

Elenzano noted that the victim and the assailant were not seen arguing during the drinking session, nor did the two have any previous tiffs.

A bystander, Mark Ersando, told investigators he was buying cigarettes at a stall at the corner of Malakas and Magalang Streets when he heard two gunshots from across the street.

Tigno said one of Calibod's buddies, identified as Bernardo Pili, claimed that the victim had a drinking session with the assailant and Pili on Friday night just across the street.

The merrymaking was going smoothly without any arguments. "At the height of drunkenness, the victim uttered invectives against his buddies, which irritated the gunman as Calibod was allegedly acting bossy," Tigno said.

The assailant allegedly went out into the street and pulled out a handgun while shouting at the victim, "Di ko kursunada ugali mo [I don?t like your behavior]!"

Tigno said the gunman fired two shots at Calibod, hitting him at the back of the head and causing the victim to fall to the ground.

Another man, seeing the commotion, pulled the gunman away toward a waiting motorcycle which they used to escape.

Police were able to recover deformed slugs and spent cal .9mm shells from the scene.

Pili told police that he escaped from the drinking session as he was afraid that he would also be shot by the assailant.
