MANILA, Philippines—An official of the Land Transportation Office who survived an ambush attempt has surfaced before the Quezon City Police District to clarify that he has not left the country following the slay try, police said Monday.
LTO National Capital Region director Camilo Guarin paid a visit to the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit on Saturday to also surrender a slug recovered in his car after the ambush try.
CIDU head Supt Gerardo Ratuita said the LTO official has yet to give his statement to police investigators.
“But definitely, he told us that the ambush try was work related and not personally motivated,” he told reporters Monday afternoon.
Police earlier said they tried locating Guarin at his house but was told that the official reportedly left the country after the ambush attempt in March this year.
