MANILA, Philippines – Two children were killed when their house was among several gutted by fire in Manila Thursday, a city fire officer said.
Senior Fire Officer 2 Emmanuel Gaspar identified the two fatalities as Arjun Salombre at Jaybrix Jacobe, both four years old, who were sleeping inside their house at 2527 Blumentritt Extension, corner Pilita Street in Sampaloc, Manila at around 11:30 a.m. when the fire struck.
“The bodies were burned beyond recognition,” Gaspar said.
Four to five other houses were also razed by fire.
He said investigators have yet to identify the cause of fire, but estimated the damage at around P300,000.
The fire reached third alarm before it was put out before noon.
