Duterte on Robredo: ‘Vice President ba talaga ‘yan?’
President Rodrigo Duterte has questioned the legitimacy of Vice President Leni Robredo’s office in a speech on Monday, in front of senators, representatives, members of the cabinet, government officials, and foreign dignitaries.
“Ano ba ang latest count nitong kay Bongbong (Marcos) at ni ano (Robredo) […] Vice-President ba talaga ‘yan?” President Duterte said, apparently throwing shade at Robredo’s vice presidency.
President Duterte’s comments came in the middle of discussions regarding the electoral protest against Robredo that Marcos filed before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal.
Recent arguments between the camps of Robredo and Marcos focused on the allowed shading threshold of ballots, which is the minimum acceptable amount of shade in the circle for it to be considered a valid vote.
Robredo is pushing for a 25 percent shading threshold, saying that the Commission on Elections has accepted it in the past. However, Marcos’ camp said in a recent report that Robredo’s claims are misleading.
