QC assistant prosecutor killed
A Quezon City deputy prosecutor died inside his vehicle after being ambushed in Quezon City on Friday afternoon.
A report reaching Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, said assistant city prosecutor/chief inquest prosecutor Rogelio Velasco was shot several times inside his red Toyota Innova with license plate number ZNV 449 near Puregold Jr. in Barangay Holy Spirit around 4:55 p.m.
Velasco was with his daughter when the incident happened, the QCPD said.
A witness told probers a white Toyota Innova vehicle intercepted and blocked Velasco’s vehicle.
At least three suspects then alighted from the vehicle and shot the victim through the window.
The suspects fled toward Commonwealth Avenue.
Velasco was rushed to East Avenue Medical Center where he was declared dead an hour later.
The victim’s car had at least 20 bullet holes.
