Amok hacks 5 people to death before being killed by cops in Zambo Norte
ZAMBOANGA CITY – An amok hacked to death five people – four of them children – before police officers shot him dead in Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte on Saturday, the police said Sunday.
The suspect – identified as Asdal Untong – was armed with a machete and went on a hacking spree, killing five people – four of them children, according to Chief Supt. Billy Beltran, director of the Western Mindanao Police Regional Office.
Beltran said the incident took place at a quarry site in Barangay Libucon.
He identified those who died of hack wounds as Majid Hali, 35; Nazer Hali, 10; Adzmar Hali, 7; Sayder Wahid, 11; and Mohammad Said Mukaram, 7.
It was not immediately known how the Halis were related.
Beltran said the amok was killed by responding police officers.
He said the details of the incident remained scant as the Sirawai Municipal Police Station had not submitted a complete report yet due to a power outage there.
