3 killed, 2 hurt in separate Ilocos road accidents

LINGAYEN, PANGASINAN — Three persons were killed while two others, including a village council member, were hurt in four separate road accidents in the Ilocos Region on Easter Sunday and Monday, police said.

Nomar Canoza, 19, died instantly after he was hit by an unidentified vehicle and then run over by a passenger bus as he crossed the Manila North Road (MNR) in Barangay Paldit in Sison town, Pangasinan province at about 12:15 a.m. on Monday.

The bus driver, Rogelio Oamil, 47, immediately surrendered to the Sison police.

In La Union province, Danny Estipular, 42, a council member of Urayong village in Caba town, was in critical condition after he was hit by a northbound passenger bus as he crossed the MNR at about 12:10 p.m. on Sunday, according to Senior Inspector Antonio Dasalla Jr., Caba police chief.

Bus driver Josue Espinocella, 28, of Bugallon town in Pangasinan, is now under police custody. 

In Ilocos Norte, construction worker Jeffrey Tabara, 40, did not reach the hospital alive after he was hit by a motorcycle at about 7:57 p.m. on Sunday in Piddig town.

Tabara was walking home when a speeding motorcycle struck him at the roadside. Motorcycle rider Roldan Balguna, 31, was hurt during the incident and is now being treated in a hospital.

In Ilocos Sur province, Ronel Election, 29, was already dead when he taken to the Northside Doctors Hospital in Bantay town after his motorcycle collided with a cargo truck in Barangay Poblacion West, San Ildefonso town at about 9:47 p.m. on Sunday.

Truck driver Edmar Pablico, 24, is now under police custody. /je
