Man shot dead while having drinking spree in Lucena

LUCENA CITY—A man was shot dead while having a drinking spree in Lucena City early Saturday, police said.

The victim, Anthony Bulig, 36, was drinking with friends when the suspect, known only as alias “Jay Ar,” suddenly appeared and without any apparent reason shot the victim using a caliber .45 pistol in Barangay (village) Cotta at around 12:15 a.m.

The suspect, resident of nearby Purok (sub-village) Talabis in Barangay Ibabang Iyam, fled on foot after the shooting.

The victim sustained a fatal bullet wound in the right shoulder and was rushed to Quezon Medical Center but died while being treated, police said.

Police launched a manhunt operation to arrest the suspect.

Meanwhile, the drinking partners of the victim and other witnesses refused to cooperate with investigators out of fear, police said. /jpv
