Duterte wants ‘education on pushcart’ guy Efren Peñaflorida for PCUP post

/ 07:03 AM December 16, 2017

DAVAO CITY – President Duterte on Friday has decided to appoint civic worker Efren Peñaflorida as one of the commissioners of the Presidential Commission on Urban Poor (PCUP).

Mr. Duterte, who made the announcement during a party hosted by Malacanang for the Davao media, also ordered presidential aide Christopher “Bong” Go to locate Peñaflorida for his appointment.

The civic leader who became known for educating slum kids on a pushcart, was among the personalities the President wanted to replace lawyer Terry Ridon and five other officials whom he sacked last week for costly junkets in spite of being in an anti-poverty body.

Mr. Duterte also ordered Go to buy “barong” and other formal attire to the would-be commissioners.
