Heavy rains in Metro Manila, nearby provinces as ‘Maring’ nears

/ 02:16 PM September 12, 2017

The state weather bureau warned of possible flooding in Metro Manila and nearby provinces Tuesday afternoon as Tropical Depression Maring continued to dump rains.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued the heavy rainfall warning (Orange) over Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Bulacan, Pampanga and Bataan in an advisory at 1:30 p.m.

Maring made landfall over Mauban, Quezon on Tuesday morning and is expected to cross Manila-Laguna in the afternoon.

Flooding is a definite threat in communities under the Orange rainfall warning.

Meanwhile, a Yellow warning was issued over Zambales and Quezon.

Flooding is possible in low-lying areas, Pagasa said.

Moderate with occasional heavy rains are affecting Nueva Ecija and Tarlac which may persist within the next three hours. /je
