No number coding on Holy Wednesday; some Makati streets closed for holy week

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has lifted the number coding scheme on April 12 in line with the observance of Holy Week.

The traffic policy officially known as the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program will also be suspended on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, April 13 and 14.

At the same time, the MMDA also announced alternate routes as some streets in Makati City would be closed for Holy Week activities.

The following will be closed on Holy Wednesday and Good Friday at 5 p.m. onwards: J.P. Rizal Avenue/Estrella Street; Kalayaan Avenue/Reposo Street; and Valdez/Makati Avenue. These streets will also be closed on Black Saturday, April 15, from 11 p.m. onwards and on Easter Sunday, April 16, from 2 p.m. onwards.

Manila motorists going to Guadalupe should turn right on Reposo Street, left on Gil Puyat and then straight to Edsa. Or they can turn right on Valdez Street, right on Makati Avenue, left on Gil Puyat and head toward Edsa.
