Low pressure area to bring rain to parts of Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao–Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers as a shallow low pressure area embedded along the intertropical convergence zone will affect southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Wednesday.

The shallow low pressure area is 200 kilometers east of Mindanao as of 5 a.m., the state-run weather bureau said.

Wind convergence is also seen affecting eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon, it added.

Eastern and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Aurora, Quezon, Bicol region, Eastern Visayas and Eastern Mindanao, which may trigger flashfloods and landslides, Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast and east will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east and southeast with slight to moderate seas, it also said.
