Popular radio voice talent hurt after being hit by cab in QC

MANILA, Philippines — A Popular radio voice talent, who gave life to characters in radio dramas and this year’s Gawad Plaridel awardee for broadcasting, was injured after she was hit by a taxi at Edsa corner North Avenue in Quezon City early Wednesday.

Senior Police Officer 3 Ronquillo Mano of the QC Police District Traffic Sector 6 said Eloisa Cruz Canlas, 70, was brought to the East Avenue Hospital for treatment of injuries in the head and body.

Popularly known as Lola Cela, Cruz played characters in Simatar and Gabi ng Lagim dramas in the 1970s.

Until May this year, Cruz starred in Radyo Inquirer 990AM’s soap drama Zyra & Newsboy.

Mano said Cruz was conscious when brought to the hospital for scans & treatment.

The driver of the taxi, Nemencio Villanueva, is under police custody.
