Man killed, 8 others hurt in Shariff Aguak; family feud eyed

COTABATO CITY—An unidentified man was killed while eight others were injured when two men riding in tandem on a motorbike fired on a tricycle in Barangay (village) Timbangan in Shariff Aguak on Wednesday evening, a military official said Thursday.

Colonel Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the 601st Infantry Brigade based in Tacurong City, said the slain man was walking on a dirt road where the tricycle was also passing by when he was hit by a stray bullet.

Sobejana’s unit has jurisdiction over Shariff Aguak and other parts of Maguindanao.

Sobejana said the attack could have been triggered by a long-standing family feud involving the wounded victims and the suspects. RAM/rga
