Half paralyzed prosecutor shot dead by men riding in tandem

A half paralyzed prosecutor from Mati City, Davao Oriental was shot dead by unidentified men on Wednesday morning.

Justice Undersecretary Erickson Balmes identified the victim as City Prosecutor Rolando Acido.

Balmes said Acido is a stroke patient who was half paralyzed but still working as city prosecutor.

“Pababa sa car, papunta sa court, binaril (When he alighted from the car, on his way to court, he was shot); he succumbed from gunshot wounds caused by two persons riding in tandem,” Balmes told reports.

Initial report from the police stated that the incident occurred around 8:40 in the morning. He was shot by the suspects near the Hall of Justice, Barangay Dahican, Mati City.

The victim was brought to St. Camillus Hospital but was declared dead. JE
