Duterte: I won’t allow cops who killed Mayor Espinosa go to jail

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said he would not allow the policemen who allegedly killed Albuera town Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. to go to jail.

“I will not allow these police to go in prison. Kahit sabihin ng NBI na murder (Even if the NBI says it’s murder),” Duterte said in his speech during his speech at the Urban Solidarity Week in Mandaluyong City

The President’s statement came a day after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ruled that Espinosa died in a rubout and not a shootout as earlier claimed by the involved policemen.

“Ang finding ng NBI ay murder. Go, file ka ng kaso. Pero naniniwala ako sa mga pulis (The NBI’s finding is murder. They can go file a case. But I still believe in the version of the police,” he said. IDL
