THE Cebu Queen City United (CQCU) maybe be down, but it will play its final elimination assignment with heads held high against Pachanga FC in the United Football Cup 2011-2012 of the United Football League (UFL).

This is the first time that a Cebuano team saw action in the country’s premiere football tournament.

Despite having only three weeks of preparation, CQCU which is coached by Mario Ceniza and managed by Pericles “Ricky” Dakay, bravely faced better prepared teams.

Ceniza said that he might not be playing four of his key players this 2 p.m. at the Rizal Stadium after both Rocky Garciano (midfielder) and Ronald Mahilum (defender) sustained injuries while another defender Nino Zapanta had accumulated two yellow cards equivalent to a red card.

The coach added that goalkeeper Alex Buanghog might also not make it due to his job commitments in which case he will Frederick “Ktec” Alazas instead.

According to Ceniza, they will still give their best today in the hopes of of becoming the third best finisher among all participating teams to still play in the round of 16.

He said tournament officials will pick two third best finishers to play in the round of 16.

Although he admitted that their chances are slim considering that they have a goal difference of -11, Ceniza said the result is not what’s important. What is vital, he said, is their performance.  CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
