Forget about accounting.  That belongs to commerce.  What the government should do is to try to stop that funding from reaching the rebel groups in the Philippines.  Make it a priority for your ambassadors, consuls, etc. to lobby international organizations, like middle east countries, Pakistan and North Korea to stop supporting rebel groups in the Philippines.  Gadhafi is dead but his legacy of support for rebel groups stays alive.  Our diplomats can stop this if they do their jobs properly.

Stop the blood supply for the cancer to die!  The Philippine government would set an example of not handing out taxpayers money to rebel groups such as the MILF, MNLF, NPA, etc.  You only do that if the problem is solved simply because if your brain is working properly and your reasoning is not compromised, that money can be used to buy arms and ammunitions to kill our own troops!  Unless our government officials are brain-dead, handing out money, in whatever pretext it can muster, is not a good idea to help prevent conflicts befelling us all!

If the rumors about Aquino handing out P5 million to the MILF Murad Ebrahim was true, Aquino is himself abetting the development of a cancer he is “trying” to prevent!  It can even be viewed as an act of treason!

Funding the enemy that kill our soldiers is Treason. It is mind boggling  that our president personally gave money to our enemy. This is one for the books.

What ever happened to the TRANSPARENCY this administration is advocating? Why is the government engaging in back door deals with the rebels? I find this worse than GMA’s midnight deals/appointments since this government is going behind our backs! This transaction should have been brought to the public’s attention as soon as it happened.

I have never advocated an all-out-war with the MILF, but if I find out that the tax money that is shaved off my income has been used to buy guns and ammunition, then that might just change my mind.

I think it was spent to hire private jets, because MILF leaders will not pass through our international airports and go through security checks and immigration checks and custom checks.

The money was given as goodwill and how it was spent is no longer their business. Investigating the MILF where the money went goes to show the stupid line of thinking of Lacierda when all he could have said, “don’t ask me, ask the MILF.”

Contracts entered into by the GMA government with any entity, or promise for that matter, were all abrogated by the Aquino government. Why this 5M gift to the MILF? When it is wrong as people perceive it, there is GMA to blame. Kawawa naman sya.

For giving the P5M to the MILF Leonen is passing the blame to GMA admin claiming they only followed what the previous admin had committed to the MILF. Why follow a commitment that is totally wrong in the first place? It’s the very reason why contracts entered into by GMA admin are being reviewed if not canceled by PNoy because of perceived anomalies and yet Leonen and PNoy think it’s alright to give away taxpayers money freely as if they are their personal money. In the first place, Malacanang giving 5 million pesos to MILF when peace negotiations between the government and MILF is not yet completed is an act of defensive stance by the government. The government is like a person giving ammunition to his  enemy before negotiating for peace. What a dangerous policy by the government in handling over peace negotiations.

How about if the peace negotation between the government and MILF fails – where would the 5 million  pesos in the hands of the MILF be used?   would the money be used for building roads, and school buildings?; would the money be used for buying bullets to shoot our soldiers?; would the money be used for sowing terror in public places? only future events could tell.

I agree, this is where the question of COMPETENCE comes in. I listened to the interview of one of the members of the Peace Panel last night and even she is not agreeable to the area of temporary stay. It goes to show that this panel’s objective is not to bring lasting peace in mindanao but get the peace accord at any cost. When will the Aquino Administration stop campaigning and try to run the country? The soldiers are not the arroyos, you can play with the arroyos but not with the lives of our soldiers.

For his all-out justice response for the death of 19 soldiers, PNoy has authorized to drop bombs on air and conduct land assaults, but, get this, only directed towards the Abus and some of the ‘rogue elements’ of the MILF. During the one of the tense  moments of the 1986 EDSA People Power revolt, as people from all walks of life – nuns, men, women, children, professionals, workers, the jobless came face to face with heavily armed soldiers, the former gave the latter flowers, food and drinks – a sign of goodwill which have definitely eased the tension and which eventually lead to a peaceful resolution of the precarious situation.

That 5 million pesos was part of the agreement forged by the previous administration with the MILF. In essence it was the previous administration who gave it.

A lot of people wonder why despite the Philippine government which is experiencing deep financial problem yet still can afford to give aid to a rebel group responsible for the death of 19 members of its armed forces.  It is really hard to fathom the reason for this action of the government considering that there are a lot within its agencies needing funds.  

Why give money to a group who is openly fighting the government.  To many, this is just a waste of money.  To me this is SHEER STUPIDITY.

Many idiots are still talking about “peace process” not knowing what PEACE really means.  PEACE can only be had if there are no more armed “bandits” roaming the streets, towns and jungles of Mindanao!  If the country or a part of it is controlled by any armed group, like the MILF, for instance,  ”PEACE” means “PISS_ON_YOU”.  How can the government talk about peace when its own soldiers CANNOT even enter part of its own territory without getting shot at, WHAT is peace talks to your hollow heads to understand about?  Worse, you even allow foreign countries to MEDIATE in the supposed conflict WITHOUT even thinking for a moment that they are ONE-SIDEDLY favoring the rebels!

ARMM was merely an experimental idea to give people in Mindanao a chance to prove to themselves if they can direct and manage their own destiny in an atmosphere of tolerance within the sovereign Philippines stewardship.  It appeared, it was actually TRASHED by former ARMM leadership, showing to us that they cannot manage their own affairs without bankrupting the financial support the Philippine government has sincerely given to them.  Later leadership of this fragmented group is again ”demanding” from or better yet, BLACKMAILING, the government to give them a “sub-state” to do the same plundering ideas a chance for another greedy hands to grab on or else face the consequences of war!  And as usual, the government gave in by agreeing to have a peace talk!  What a bunch of nincompoops!

Thanks, John, for your civil attitude. From what we gather here, that 5 million fund was made to establish the BLMI. Following the logic, the BLMI was not yet established because there was no funds for it  yet. 
There has got to be a negotiating partner which is the MILF in this case. The release was an act of goodwill, of confidence-building measure. In the pursuit of peace with one’s enemies, goodwill is a better alternative than guns. 
The problem here is that there are elements of the MILF who are hawkish as there are those who are dovish. The first derail the negotiations and their actions undermine the efforts of the latter.
Even on the side of the government there are doves as there are hawks.
