Mandaluyong City Police Chief Senior Superintendent Joaquin Alva has directed the police to conduct an intensive probe into the killing of a 50-year-old hotel owner in Mandaluyong City on Monday afternoon.

Lilian Yap Chua, a Filipino-Chinese, was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman inside a canteen on the ground floor of Transient Hotel on Boni Avenue in Brgy Plain View, around 1:17 pm, Alva said.

According to PO3 Donald Bañes, case investigator from the Mandaluyong City police, the suspect entered the canteen and posed as a customer.

Chua suffered gunshot wounds in the head and body. She was rushed to Mandaluyong Medical Center where she was declared dead on arrival.

The suspect fled on foot toward an unknown direction, witnesses said.

The suspect, estimated to be around 35 to 40 years old, was identified in a closed circuit television footage wearing a black bull cap, gray t-shirt and blue maong pants.

Bañes said the killing may be business-related.

Recovered from the crime scene were two pieces of empty fired cartridges and a fired bullet.

Alva directed the police to further their probe and exhaust all means for the arrest of the suspect. CDG/rga
