Here’s a chilly and tasty response to the heated feud between two former ”Cold War” foes.

A Russian ice cream brand is making waves internationally after the yummy dessert was named after the country’s archrival – United States (US) President Barack Obama.

The chocolate covered ice cream was named “Obamka”, or ‘little Obama’ in Russian, and was reportedly sold in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny in the Russian republic of Tatarstan late last month, according to The Moscow Times.

Rasil Mustafin, deputy director at the Slavitsa ice cream factory, explained that the name was not chosen because of political biases but solely due to its mouth-watering chocolate flavor. “There’s no political underpinning. We have no intention to offend anyone…Someone at the factory came up with the idea,” he told Russian media.

The ice cream package’s cartoon was based on a Soviet-era film featuring an imaginary island called “Chunga-Changa,” which is inhabited by African kids.

As of the moment, only one batch of Obamka ice cream has been dispatched.

Russian social media users demanded the ice cream factory to market other politically-inspired ice cream brands, such as “Erdoganka” (caramel ice cream in milk chocolate) and “Merkelka” (vanilla ice cream in white chocolate). Both are named after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, according to Russian news site evening-kazan.ru.
