A member of the Special Action Force (SAF) of the Philippine National Police was arrested in Pasig City around midnight Friday after he allegedly fired shots at a group of drunken teenagers but ended up wounding three motorcycle riders who were just passing by.

According to a report reaching the Pasig police, PO1 Niño Tamboong was at an eatery on Dr. Sixto Antonio Avenue, Barangay Maybunga, when some teenagers threw rocks at him for reasons still unclear.

This prompted him to draw his 9mm pistol and fire “warning shots” in their direction. He claimed that he was just aiming at the ground, but bullet fragments hit the feet of three other people who were on a motorcycle.
The case investigator, PO3 Melvin Jesus Mendoza, identified the wounded as Von Jovi Faala, 20; Rose Lagrimas, 18, and Eunice Lagrimas, 15, who were brought to Rizal Medical Center for treatment.

The eight teenagers who pestered Tamboong were able to flee.
