The Department of Education (DepEd) and different local governments announced the suspension of classes in various cities in Metro Manila and nearby provinces on Wednesday due to heavy rain and flooding brought by the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
Classes were suspended in all levels in both public and private schools in the following areas as of 2 p.m.:

- Pateros
- Marikina City
- Makati City
- Pasay City
- Manila City
- Mandaluyong City
- Parañaque City
- Pasig City
- Malabon City
- Valenzuela City
- Las Piñas City
- Taguig City (afternoon classes)
- Navotas City (afternoon classes)
- San Juan City (afternoon classes)
- Rizal province (afternoon classes)
- Cavite province (afternoon classes)
- Batangas province (afternoon classes)
- Orani, Bataan (afternoon classes)
- Limay, Bataan
- Abucay, Bataan
- Mariveles, Bataan
- Balanga, Bataan
- Sta. Maria, Bulacan
- San Jose del Monte, Bulacan
- Marilao, Bulacan

No public storm warning signal was raised over Metro Manila but the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration warned of “heavy to intense” rains due to the southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm “Egay” (international name: Linfa) and Typhoon “Falcon” (international name: Chan-hom).
