Magnitude 4.7 quake hits Bohol, Cebu; Rama evacuates City Hall
A Magnitude 4.7 earthquake hit the province of Bohol and was felt in nearby Cebu and Negros Occidental provinces, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Monday morning.
The earthquake was recorded at 9:47 a.m and its center was located 8 km southeast of Buenavista, Bohol.
The quake has a depth of 3 kilometers.
Intensity 5 was felt in San Miguel, Bohol, Intensity 4 was felt in Lapu-Lapu City and Buenavista, Bohol, while Intensity 3 was felt in Cebu City, Bacolod City, Bogo City, Tagbilaran City and in Iloilo City.
In a report by Cebu Daily News, the quake prompted the evacuation of Cebu City Hall employees. Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama asked the public not to panic.
No damage and aftershocks are expected from the said quake. CB
