Dugong Kampeon weigh-in today

The official weigh-in of the Dugong Kampeon: Laban Ng Lahi fight card of the GerryPens Promotions will be held today at the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) office along Osmeña Boulevard.

The fight card, which is set for tomorrow at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City, features 21-year-old Dodie Boy Peñalosa Jr. and the battle-scarred Michael Fareñas, the WBF featherweight champion.

Fareñas, who sports a record of 32-3-3 (win-loss-draw) with 29 knockout wins, is coming off an eight-round battle against Mexican Fernando Beltran Jr. last July in Honolulu, Hawaii

Dodie Boy Jr., who is still unbeaten in six tries, is fresh off a third-round knockout against Thai Kong Kiatpracha last Aug. 6 in Mandaue City.

Peñalosa will fight Donriel Marcos of Manila in an eight-round bout. Fareñas, on the other hand, is eyeing the Philippine featherweight belt against Edgar Gabehan of the Aljo Jaro Boxing Club from Manila.

“For me, I already have enough training so I know will win against Marcos,” said Peñalosa.

Dodie Boy Peñalosa Sr. considers this fight card as one of the most difficult for his wards. two of them are his sons who will battle out this Saturday night. Marcos is expected to bank on his veteran experience against the young Peñalosa Jr.

Marcos has already fought Larry Canillas, ALA Boxing Promotion’s Genesis Servania and Rolando Magbanua in his 23 professional bouts. He has a 10-13, 1KO record.

Gabejan won his last fight against Vinvin Rufino last June for the featherweight title.

Meanwhile, Dave Peñalosa, the younger brother of Dodie Boy Jr, will face southpaw John Edu Torbiso in his debut bout. Eden Sonsona will also fight against Cagayan de Oro’s Godwin Tubigon.
