MANILA, Philippines–Vice President Jejomar Binay on Wednesday said the alleged anomaly involving housing funds being hurled against him is just part of a “perception game” by his critics.

Bakit ginagawa ‘yon? Ang habol habol nila e ‘yong perception. Sisirain ka agad (This is what you call a perception game. These allegations won’t stop in three, even five years. Why? They’re after the perception. They want to discredit me),” Binay, said in an interview over radio DWIZ.

The vice president lamented that most Filipinos would quickly express judgment even without an evidence.

It’s embarrassing but many of our fellow Filipinos are quick to express negative reaction),” Binay said.

“Ours is a negative thinking society,” he added.

Binay said the allegations against him affected his survey ratings.

Ito, nakaapekto agad sa survey [ratings] namin (Once they hear something, they think it’s true. They don’t stop to listen to explanations or scrutinize evidence. It has affected our survey ratings),” he said.

Binay said “conviction should come from the court.”
