MANILA, Philippines—The husband of a woman who was found dead inside their house in Mandaluyong City on Thursday morning is now one of the suspects in her killing, police said.

Senior Police Officer 1 Edmundo Fabela on Friday said Rodel Ramirez is being eyed as a suspect after investigators found out that the knife and ice pick allegedly used to stab his wife, Maria Luisa, belonged to him.

Fabela said the father of the victim also told the police that his daughter and Rodel had a heated argument last week.

He said Rodel suspected that his wife had a lover, which could have pushed him to kill his own wife.

Fabela said the suspect is already detained at the Mandaluyong Police Station for inquest proceedings.

On Thursday, the suspect told the police that he found his wife stabbed dead inside their house after he had gone outside to get the car he was going to use to drive their own grocery.

He said he heard the sound of a speeding motorcycle after he had found his wife in a pool of her own blood.
