Cop’s head crushed after being hit by truck

MANILA, Philippines—A Parañaque policeman, who was on his way to work, did not make it to his post after a dump truck sideswiped his motorcycle, ran over him and crushed his head in San Mateo, Rizal Friday morning.

PO3 Rolindo Ondagan, assigned at a Police Community Precinct in Parañaque City Police, died on the spot after a sand truck driven by Ramil delos Reyes ran over him along General Luna Street in Barangay (village) Malanday

According to PO3 Francisco Gammab, of the San Mateo Municipal Police Station, Ondangan just left his house to report to the Parañaque police station.

But around 9 a.m., when Ondagan was traversing Gen. Luna Street going to Marikina City, a dump truck sideswiped the motorcycle he was riding, causing him to fall from the vehicle.

Gammab said as the policeman fell to the ground, the dump truck accidentally ran over the victim, killing Ondagan instantly.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) policemen immediately responded to the scene and took Ondagan to the Crime Laboratory of the San Mateo municipal police station.

The police officer added that the truck driver, 31-year-old delos Reyes, voluntarily surrendered to the authorities after the fatal accident.

Delos Reyes was put under the custody of the San Mateo police.
