Gunman in shooting of Kalinga mayor surrenders

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines—The suspected gunman who shot the  mayor of Pasil town in Kalinga province surrendered to the provincial police office on Sunday night.

Kitkiti Suyam turned himself in with the assistance of the Anglican Church, said Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez, Cordillera police director. Suyam allegedly shot Pasil town Mayor James Edduba on Saturday night.

Edduba’s vehicle struck a dog on his way to Tabuk city. The mayor was attacked when he and his fellow passengers stopped to check on the dog.
