Fuentebella beats Aga Muhlach in CamSur’s 4th district congressional race

NAGA CITY, Philippines – After two days of tense wait, the Camarines Sur provincial board of canvassers finally declared William “Wimpy” Fuentebella the winner in the hotly contested fourth district congressional race.
The final tally showed that Fuentebella won by a margin of 2,205 votes, having polled a total votes of 82,834 against Aga Muhlach’s 80,629 votes.
A last-ditch attempt by Muhlach’s lawyers to defer the canvassing and make corrections in their contested election returns was denied by the PBOC following a short caucus.
As of 9:49 p.m., the PBOC was generating the results in preparation for the Fuentebella’s proclamation.
Muhlach’s supporters who had surrounded the municipal hall of Tigaon town have also been pushed out of the town hall’s compound but not before hurling stones at the municipal building and breaking practically all the glass windows at the first and second floor windows.
The PBOC also completed the tally for the gubernatorial race, formalizing the victory of Miguel “Migz” Villafuerte as the new governor of Camarines Sur, with a vote of 263,792, defeating his grandfather, Representative Luis Villafuerte, who got 200,086 votes in the final tally.
Migz arrived at the Capitol, in the company of his father, outgoing Governor Raymund Luis “LRay” Villafuerte at 9:57 p.m. for his proclamation.
Fuentebella was also expected to arrive soon at the Capitol for his proclamation.
