3 NPA rebels dead in encounter with troops in Cagayan

MANILA, Philippines – Three New People’s Army rebels were killed in an encounter with police forces Tuesday in Cagayan, the military said Wednesday.

Colonel Loreto Magundayao of the Army’s 5th Infantry Division did not identify the two rebels that clashed with police in Lakambini village, Tuao town at about 1:30p.m.

Captured was one of the wounded rebels identified as Alex Tiborcio of Lasam town but who died Wednesday morning. His body was brought to Cagayan Valley Regional Center in Tuguegarao.


Recovered by police were a rifle, one 9-millimeter pistol, and one hand grenade, Magundayao said.
