Dead woman, unconscious Korean found in Lapu hotel

Police found a 22-year-old woman  dead while her male companion, a Korean, was  unconscious inside a hotel room in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City on Saturday night.

Police identified the fatality as Whenvy Jean Noel, a resident of sitio Kinalumsan, barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu.

Hyun Chul Hwang, 29, who temporarily lives in Pacific Villa Subdivision in barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu, was in critical condition at the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital.

Police said the woman had bruises in the different parts of the body.

Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO), investigation is in progress to determine the cause of death.

Police said fluids were seen coming out from the Korean’s mouth which could be a result of drug overdose.

According to initial police investigation, the two had just met through a social networking site.

Police said Noel and Hyun checked in at San Francisco Hotel around 10 p.m. last Friday.

Around 1 p.m. the next day, Edgar Tantay, the hotel supervisor, went to the room of the guests to inform them that it was time to check out, SPO1 Alan Pantaleon, homicide investigator of  LLCPO, said.

Police said Noel and Hyun did not respond.

Tantay returned to the room around 6 p.m. but still got no response from the two guests.

It was around 9 p.m. when Elizabeth Palis, the hotel manager, called the police.

Police, led by SPO4 Remegio Ngujo, forced open the door and found the two guests on top of a bed naked.

Police said are still waiting for the Korean to recuperate to find out what happened.

Two policemen were assigned at the hospital to guard the Korean.
