ILOILO CITY — Two persons drowned and two others remained missing in Iloilo, as of Wednesday night, after heavy rains brought by typhoon “Quinta” triggered flooding in several municipalities in the province.

Jerry Bionat, executive officer of the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council, identified the drowning victims as Warlito Lutero of Janiuay town and Arnulfo Bayotes of Barotac Nuevo town.

The two missing persons were reported in Lambunao and San Miguel towns.

Fifteen towns and Passi City experienced flooding.

The towns included Barotac Nuevo, Dingle, Duenas, Calinog, Lambunao, Janiuay, Alimodian, Anilao, Balasan, Cabatuan, Pototan, San Miguel, Barotac Viejo, Bingawan and Mina.

At least 1,360 families were evacuated as of 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. They have been staying at gymnasiums, schools and with their relatives or neighbors.

Several roads including portions of the national highway in Passi City were impassable due to flooding, said Bionat. /INQUIRER
