Cebu City, Mandaue take early lead in CCSC Football Friendship Games

CEBU City and Mandaue City are currently leading their respective divisions in the 1st Cebu City Sports Center Football Friendship Games dubbed the Champions’ League whick kicked off yesterday at the CCSC football field.

In the elementary division, Cebu City made up of players from the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) has accumulated four points equivalent to one win and a draw.

Cebu City drew with the Warshockz, 2-all, in its first match but recovered to drub Danao FC, 6-0.

Mandaue City has taken the second spot after handing Danao City its second loss, 6-0.

The Warshockz is currently at third place with a point aftyer drawing with cellar-dwelling Danao City which has yet to post a win.

In the secondary division, the Mandaue City Selection of Mandaue Technical Institute and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu grabbed the top spot after its 5-0 win over Cebu Province manned by players from Don Bosco Boys Home.

The Abellana National School (ANS) which has withdrawn its football team in the recent Cebu City Olympics shocked the Cebu City Selection of DBTC players and University of Southern Philippines with a 1-0 edging.

However, Cebu City recovered with a 2-1 win against Cebu Province.

ANS has taken the second spot while Cebu City is at third. At fourth is Cebu Province.

The top two teams in each division will advance to the finals which will be held this 6 p.m. while the eliminations will resume this morning.  /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
