MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III is set to issue a statement this Sunday on the ongoing peace talks in Malaysia between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

“The President will be issuing a statement today, Oct. 7 (Sunday), 12:45 pm, at the President’s Hall, Malacanan Palace. Media coverage is requested,” government peace panel chair, Marvic Leonen, said in a text message.

Earlier this week, Leonen said a framework agreement, which serves as the blueprint for the final peace agreement, was about to be sealed.
