TAGAYTAY CITY—Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo “looked happy” inside a wellness facility here, a day after she was released from detention.

Arroyo, now a Pampanga representative, arrived at around 9 a.m. at Green and Young Health and Wellness Center in Barangay (village) San Jose.

She was wearing a printed dress and slippers and was accompanied by an elder sister, said a source who asked not to be identified for lack of authority to speak on the former President’s visit here.

“She looked happy. She even laughed and smiled at me,” said the source who was briefly allowed to meet the former President at noon.

Arroyo was released on Wednesday from eight months in detention at Veterans Memorial Medical Center  in Quezon City after posting a P1-million bail in connection with an electoral sabotage case. Reports said she was here to seek treatment for her illness.

The source said Arroyo was not wearing her neck brace and was lying in bed most of the time.

“I heard that they were going to do some laboratory tests on her,” the source added. An intravenous fluid pack was attached to Arroyo.

Another source who received information from some staff members of the facility said the former President would be staying at the wellness center until Sunday.

But Elena Bautista-Horn, an Arroyo spokesperson, said the former President would check out today from the health facility and would go directly to her district in Pampanga.

The wellness center is run by Antonia Park, a Filipino oncologist.

Park is known for treating her patients, among them well-known personalities and court judges, with herbal medicines and an organic diet.

The source said a sister of Arroyo was also a longtime patient of Park. Cielo Macapagal-Salgado, a former vice governor of Pampanga province, claimed to have survived two forms of cancer through intense prayers.

Horn said the visit to the alternative medicine facility was suggested by the former President’s sister.

Horn said Arroyo agreed to try the new treatment because she had already undergone three surgeries. She also has limited options because she has a hold-departure order that prevents her from seeking treatment abroad.

Acknowledging that the former President’s freedom was temporary, her family would make the most of it, Camarines Sur Representative Diosdado “Dato” Ignacio Arroyo said.

Dato said that all of his mother’s grandchildren slept in her room the first night she was at her home in La Vista in Quezon City, and that his father, sister and elder brother were also there. With reports from Juan Escandor Jr., Inquirer Southern Luzon; and Tonette Orejas, Inquirer Central Luzon

I think GMA will find going into the mouth of Taal volcano bathing herself with molten lave more invigorating and  probably will make her more healthy.  SPA SPA is for the weaker specie.

  • MangDolphy

Mas mukhang may sakit sya tignan doon eh. Di pa nga yata na-treat ng Wellness Center. Pagpasok pa lang magaling agad.

  • Belekoy

This is good news. She is now healing from neck pain. Maybe she can now say something about the 3rd SONA of P-Noy.

  • regd

Enjoy it while it last, you’ll be back where you belong soon – in the loving arms of your concubine bars!

  • Ed Molina

why am i not surprised she’s not wearing a neck brace?

  • Beguine

Enjoying a bit of freedom only to be arrested quickly again!
And this time make sure to put her in a regular jail!
She’s given proof positive she’s only pretending to be sick
and always wanting to go abroad for “treatment.”

mabuhay si gma and may her health improve and fight against this vindictive, low esteem and witless pnoy who knows only to noynoying in his comfort zone of LA L:A dreamland!! may gma be victorious to fight this full of trolls in this present ogre government of pnoy!! GMA the filipino people LOVES youand eishes you great health!!

Potah kayo Leila Salaverria at Marimar Cinco. Potah!

    • boypalaban

Pinagtyagaan kitang i google potah ka Leila Salaverria.  UP Mass Com grad ka pala, but I am not impressed. Malisyosa ka!  Well, isipin ko na lang na yan ang marching orders sayo ng PDI editor to put GMA in bad light.  “Arroyo looks happy at Tagaytay spa.”  Wah!

    • boypalaban

       SPA = Sosyal Potah Arrovo

  • wakats

“She looked happy.  She even smiled at me.”  No more neck brace and looking good at the wellness spa.

When she’ll be served with another warrant of arrest for the non-bailable PCSO plunder case, she’ll surely wear the neck brace again, looked sickly and weak,  and in wheel chair – in full view of hundreds of paparazzi.

Then mrs. sungay will insist that gma, being a “high risk” patient, must be returned to VMMC and not to city jail, lest the PNoy government be blamed if something happened to her while incarcerated in filthy jail.  The hospital detention is not only comfortable but FREE OF CHARGE.

    • boypalaban

And who will not like getting spa treatment? You’ll never value freedom unless you lose it. That’s what Gloria Arroyo realizes now. When she was president, illegally though, she holds in her palm and play with the liberty of people whom she regards as her enemy. Now, that the table is turned perhaps she now tastes what she did to the people whom her administration harassed and made life difficult. This nonentity still holds the view that Arroyo’s present awful plight is the cause of all  her illnesses. Stress, as every medical practitioner knows breeds all sort of diseases. Arroyo was just having stress galore which explains her neck woes. She’s just putting up this neck show to buttress her desire to skip overseas and hide from the arm of the law. That’s why she’ll never take that guillotine thing off her neck just to prove a point. Now, calling the Sandiganbayan, please satisfy the Filipino people’s craving for justice by sending Arroyo back to where she belongs – jail.

Good ness. Sensational naman itong news na ito. INQ is instigating hatred again.

LOL! And, you are instigating condoning corruption and cupidity again.

  • rocky92

The woman needs all the spa treatment to endure the pain of going through all the cases filed against her which will most likely last until her last breath! She deserves it! No, not the spa but the cases!

  • 4kingdaddy

okay, i have given more than enough time of courtesies to the arroyos…now dato–give the 2nd district back to bicolanos where it belongs…go back to lubao and run for your “sickly” mother’s district…mikey, can you show us how to steer a tricycle ‘cuz i had a hard time trying it….also, show the public you can stand a 12-hour shift as a security guard….gloria, you will be elected for 3 terms, but after that, you have no more place to hide…soon you will be incarcerated, but we have high hopes you will see the steel bars as early as possible..and miguel, the chopper man?…there are no more words that can describe this man…oh well….and luli???….i pass….she has nothing to do with these hoopla, i hope…..

  • AllaMo

Ate glo[pwe] must be happy in that spa. But, for sure, she is waxing ecstatic with the manner that her corrupt and corrupting turns at being president will get away with mayhem and murder [just like the marcoses and estradas].

  • Cavitekid

Watching the lack of prosecution of her and people like Ampatuan and all her other cronies only makes the Philippines the laughing stock of the outside world, read the headlines is like watching the cartoons. People wonder why there is no real interest in real foreign investment. Why do think there are no big USA companies spending investment money here or any other multinational for that matter?
